Be welcome to the pages of..

Christoph Johann Szczecina. Is currently residing in the beautiful town of Trondheim in Norway while finishing his master degree at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. This is my personal website - designed to stay connected both to those whom I know and with those I have not yet met who may share similar interests. I grew up in Germany while having Polish origins in the Silesian region. Being born in a small town next to Gliwice in May 1980 I like the idea of an european union, as I don´t really care about geographic borders very much. My main interests besides of self branding are engineering, photography, traveling and design. Which is what you will hopefully find on this page...
Computer Engineering. After getting bored of gaming on the Commodore 64 I started to discover how to combine programs while writing my own software. Around the age of 17 I became interested in 68000 assembly language on the Commodore Amiga computer and involved with demo groups. Creating so called demos, small programs demonstrating what was possible on the given hardware, demo groups appeared in Europe with the first microcomputers. In September 2002 I enrolled at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (at that time not yet containing Arts in its name) for Computer Engineering, which would include classes about electronics and hardware design. The topic of my master’s thesis was the connection of a FPGA based volume rendering pipeline to the PCI-Express subsystem, including the connection to PCI-Express on one hand and Linux driver development on the other. After 5 years of studies I graduated as in August 2007.
Project Management. The team based demo projects happened to be my first encounter with group oriented project work and leadership, as the programmer had to ensure the proper integration of music and graphics in the final presentation, and get it in on time. After my graduation in computer engineering at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and being enrolled for some business administration courses at the FernUniversität Hagen in the meantime, I was happy to find a project management master course at my home town.
Freelancing. In 2001 I started working as a freelancer, designing print media advertisement and corporate design for small companies. I have experience in web oriented techniques including Adobe Flash, CSS, PHP and JavaScript. Graphic design always has been a hobby to me so it was an interesting change. It was also my first experience gathering information about customers’ needs and working on my own.
